ChildFinda is a simple smartphone app.  Easy to install on your phone and unobtrusive on your children's phone(s).

Just add a 'location library' of the places your child goes like school, sport, bus stop, after school care, friends places etc.

Then set the arrive and depart triggers and boundaries, on your phone, and ChildFinder will let you know when your child arrives or departs any location.  After initial installation there are no further actions needed on your child's phone other than to check-in say once a day; this keeps the app awake :-).  Kids can also Find My Folks on thier app.

You can also install ChildFinda on your Partner's phone so they can also receive notifications and you can see where they are :-).  This can be turned off at any time :-)

ChildFinda is free for you and your first child.  Or if you wish, you and your partner.  Free for the first two devices.

ChildFinda was developed in Australia by a Brisbane based team of two; and its data is held on a secure server. Being a Child safety app, we are very concerned about security.

Privacy is paramount and where children are concerned, even more so.  All information is secure; protected by encryption or other strategies.

To go one step further and add another layer of protection; after a location message has been sent, and no longer needed, it is deleted.  No location history is kept if not needed.  Even if we wanted to, or were required to by a Government authority; we cannot reveal any location history that is not there.

My wife and I have children, two boys.  They have a combined height of about 12 and a half feet and weight in at a bit over 200kg.  They are young men.  Studying, playing rugby, gaming, traveling and hitting the night spots on the Gold Coast, from time to time.

As parents we also worry about our grown up children, particularly when they say "driving to Byron for the weekend. I'll text when I get there"...they rarely do.

A friend of ours has younger school age children.  She works and often arrives home later.  Her children often attend after school activities including sport, visiting friends or hanging out.  ChildFinda lets her know when her children depart one location and arrive at the next place.  Saves on a lot of phone calls

Parents always know mentally where there children are, or are likely to be.  When they arrive safe somewhere, like school, we can relax knowing they are in the care of others we trust.  Same for when they arrive at after school activities like sport, and at home.  Its nice to know where they are and that they are safe. 

I travel a lot for my work.  First thing I do when getting off a plane or out of the car, is text my wife I have arrived safe.  If I am driving out West then I will text at different check points along the way.

ChildFinda unobtrusively takes care of the above.

I developed ChildFinda from an idea a few years ago when we had ostriches on the farm and used to microchip them so we could track them.  It was often quipped, 'that we could do the same to the children'; as we never know where they are.  It was a big farm and while not too worried about child safety, sometimes they were hard to find having ridden their motorbikes or ATV's off into the scrub.

The idea grew as technology developed.  The idea developed into an app that would learn the route a child would travel to get to school or elsewhere and if they deviated from the route an alert would be sent.  But thinking it through, parent don't want to know when something hasn't happened, they want to know that an event has happened.  That is, just because you haven't heard your child deviated from a designated route, doesn't ease your concerns.  But when you are told your child or partner has arrived safe at their destination, you are relaxed.  Peace of mind.

So ChildFinda was built with child safety in mind and developed to also help parents.

Speaking to many of our family and friends they said to keep it simple.  Let us know when the kids arrive or depart (where they are supposed to be) and we will be happy.  Oh, and if you can let us know a few minutes before they arrive at the bus stop, that will let us know when to collect them.

The simple feature that shows the location of all family members at any time, was a bonus; and has proved to be very popular.  A simple glance at the ChildFinda app shows where the kids or your partner are.  Useful when you are picking them up.

One of our sons travelled to 10 countries in Europe over a period of about 9 weeks.  As soon as he arrived in a new country we could see he had landed safe and when he arrived at his accommodation.  Peace of mind.
